Degrees in Composition from Indiana University, Bloomington (1982) and The Juilliard School (1988)
Musical Experience: Composer, Pianist, Guitarist, Teacher, Studio Engineer, Concert Producer and Curator, Computer Music Programmer (Max/MSP, Super Collider, CSound)
In 1996, with Ursula Scherrer, founded Studio Five Beekman, a sound and intermedia gallery.
With Liz Gerring, founded Diapason, a sound and intermedia gallery, in April, 2001.
Schumacher is a recipient of the Foundation of Contemporary Performance Arts fellowship of 2001.

2001: European tour: Nantes, Rennes, Paris, Florence and Vienna, solo laptop concerts and collaborations with Metamkine, Dean Roberts, Giuseppe Ielasi, Michael Moser, and others

2000: Roulette, New York City. Solo with laptop and Power PC.

2000: Sonic Adventures Series, curated by Joseph Diebes, GaleGates et al., Brooklyn, NY. 3 hour concert with computers and multiple video projections by Junghee Choi and Ursula Scherrer.

2000: Dream House, New York City. Two memorial concerts featuring the music of Richard Maxfield and Terry Jennings. Producer and pianist.

1999: Lotus Center for Music and Dance, New York City, Then Space Began to Toll, original piano music and a piece for piano and vibraphone with video (video by Ursula Scherrer)

1998: Piano Piece Berlin 1992, 50 minute piano composition, performed by Tomas Baechli in New York City, Berlin, and ZŸrich
