Untitled Performance

by

Ian Nagoski

a performance with Arp synthesizer, voice, feedback circuits, processed commercial recordings and the Wild Wave

Untitled Performance continues a decade-long series of performances involving superimposition of sounds. The sounds are continuous recordings of Arp synthesizer, voice, feedback circuits, processed commercial recordings, and the vibrating metal-plate instrument invented by Dan Conrad, the Wild Wave.

Ian Nagoski is a music researcher and musician living in Baltimore, Maryland. Over the past ten years, he has produced four full-length recordings of slow electronic music using cheap materials. In addition to his own musical activities, he is a writer and researcher on music. His compilation of early 20th century musics from Asia, Africa, Europe and America, Black Mirror: Reflections in Global Musics 1918 - 1954 (Dust-to-Digital) was released in 2007. He is currently researching the cafe music of the Eastern Mediterranean in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and its transplantation to New York City for a forthcoming release and paper.
