April 6 9pm - 3am KM . Direct @ Diapason $ 8 Live: Koen Holtkamp, Chris Jordan, Seth Kirby, O.blaat, Mike Skinner, SUIT, and Queens DJs: Montrachet and James Willeford KM is pleased to present DIRECT, an evening of audio/visual explorations by young New York based sound and video artists at Diapason Gallery, New York's only venue solely devoted to sound art. From 9 pm to 3 am, Koen Holtkamp, Chris Jordan, Seth Kirby, O.blaat, Mike Skinner, SUIT, and Queens will perform new work. An essence of "instant gratification" will be explored as performances become interlaced and fragmented into "micro sets" (25 minutes) with each session linked by DJs Montrachet and James Willeford. DIRECT will present live reconfigurations of sound and image: Koen Holtkamp will extend the inherent characteristics of the acoustic guitar via electronics & computer; O.blaat's (Keiko Uenishi) multi-channel computer work will dissolve the veil of performance vs. installation; Mike Skinner's 8-track performance involves direct manipulation of multiple tapes and transmitters; SUIT and Chris Jordan will collaborate combining raw sound source with light manipulation; Queens' (Scott Mou) use of turntables will challenge the playback commodity; Montrachet and James Willeford will provide a striking contrast between performances with their mix of minimal techno and house. KM . DIRECT is organized by Nathan Howe and Roland Toledo (SUIT), RubŽn Sanz Ramiro (Montrachet) and curator and critic Elna Svenle. KM is a music platform founded by SUIT in 2002.
