Giuseppe Ielasi -- Fringes label and distribution head in Italy(improvisor of note documented on Erstwhile/Sedimental/and Hapna labels) Giuseppe Ielasi was born in 1974, and has lived in the countryside near Milan since 1990. He started playing guitar in 1988, and worked for many years in the area of 'improvised music' (long term collaborations with Renato Rinaldi in the duo Oreledigneur, Alessandro Bosetti, Michel Doneda, Ingar Zach). He has performed live with Taku Sugimoto, Jerome Noetinger, Mark Wastell, Martin Siewert, Dean Roberts, Nmperign, Brandon Labelle and many others. In recent years his main interest has been in live sound production and diffusion in relationship to space (solo work and duo with Domenico Sciajno). Regular collaborator of the theater group 'Teatro Aperto'. In 1998 he founded the Fringes recordings label. http://www.fringesrecordings.com

EKG -- the duo of Kyle Bruckmann and Ernst Karel. During the late 1990s in Chicago, they found themselves repeatedly performing alongside each other on oboe and trumpet respectively, integral to the "horn section" of Olivia Block and within Gene Coleman's Ensemble Noamnesia. In such environments, they performed semi-improvised, graphic, and fully notated works by composers including Guillermo Gregorio, Werner Dafeldecker, Cornelius Cardew, John Cage, and Christian Wolff. By 2000, they had begun working as an independent unit, processing, complementing, or replacing their wind instruments with extensive analog electronics. Their first recording as EKG is Shift or latch on Crank Satori (2001). 2003 saw the release of a full length album on Locust Music's Object series, as well as tours of both the East and West Coasts. Their work continues despite Bruckmann's recent relocation to San Francisco; a new 10" vinyl record, No sign, has just been released on Sedimental Records, and a new full length is in the works. http://ekg.klingt.org/
