Chris Rice, video

Thomas C. Moore, sound

Best known as publisher of the acclaimed music magazine Halana, Chris Rice has also been making films and videos from found, anonymous home movies for the past ten years. His work has dealt largely with the landscapes and happy accidents of amateur film, reveling in the imperfections of the medium to create a beautiful, dream-like experience from the everyday.

old dam flood 82 april received an Honorable Mention at the 2003 Onion City Film Festival (Chicago) and was shown at the 2003 Philadelphia Film Festival.

He has also presented his film and video work, often in conjunction with composer Ian Nagoski's music, at the Pacific Film Archive (Berkeley, CA), Studio 5 Beekman (New York), the Red Room (Baltimore), Zeitgeist Gallery (Cambridge, MA), Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) & the transmissions 003 festival (Chapel Hill, NC), among others.

Using liminal frequencies from the extreme lower end of the audial spectrum, Thomas C. Moore works with sound as it engages the body rather than the ear: sound as tactile experience. The pieces are typically quiet and slow to reveal themselves, subtly changing and developing over long periods of time.

His work has been presented at galleries and art spaces including; the Red Room and Chela Gallery (Baltimore, MD), the Table Space (Philadelphia, PA) and the Philadelphia Art Alliance. This is the second time he has presented work at Diapason Gallery.
